What is a thread lift?
A thread lift uses dissolvable sutures, the same PDO material surgeons have used inside the body for decades, placed under the skin through a needle rather than an incision.
The threads catch the tissue and lift it. Over the following months the body dissolves them and builds collagen along the path where each one sat, so the skin keeps firming after the threads are gone.

- Is it surgery?
- No. There are no incisions and no general anaesthetic. The threads go in through a needle.
- How long does it last?
- The threads themselves dissolve within about six months. The collagen they leave behind is what holds the lift, and most people keep a visible result for twelve to eighteen months. Individual results vary.
- Does it hurt?
- The area is numbed with local anaesthetic first. You feel pressure and pulling rather than sharp pain, and it is normal to be sore for a few days afterwards.
- What is the recovery?
- Swelling and bruising are usually worst for the first two or three days. Mild swelling can linger up to a week. Most people are back to normal activity quickly, but plan around anything social in the first week.
- Will anyone be able to tell?
