Questions patients ask
Will I look frozen?+
No. Dr. Mauer treats the muscle that is actually causing the line and leaves the rest alone, which usually means fewer units than you expected. His patients say the same thing over and over: they can still move their face, and nobody can tell what they had done.
Who actually injects me?+
Dr. Mauer. Not a nurse injector, not an aesthetician, not a technician. He performs the treatment himself at both locations.
What if I do not like the result?+
Tell him. Fillers made from hyaluronic acid can be dissolved. Neuromodulators cannot be reversed, but they wear off, which is one of the reasons he starts conservatively rather than treating everything at once.
What does it cost?+
Starting prices are listed above. Your actual price depends on how much you need, and you get that number at the consultation before you agree to anything.
Does it hurt, and how long does it take?+
Most appointments run 15 to 30 minutes. The injections are done with very fine needles and most patients describe a mild pinch rather than pain.
How long does it last?+
Neuromodulators take 7 to 14 days to reach full effect and last about 3 to 4 months. Most patients come back on that schedule, and many find they need less over time. Fillers and threads last longer, and he will tell you what applies to your treatment.
Is there any downtime?+
For injectables, none that stops you going back to work. Some redness or swelling can show up and usually settles within hours. Avoid strenuous exercise and lying flat for about four hours afterwards. Laser and threads are different, and he will explain exactly what to expect beforehand.
What is the difference between Botox, Dysport and Xeomin?+
They are three brands of the same class of product. They differ slightly in how quickly they start working and how they spread through the muscle. Dr. Mauer uses all three and picks based on the area being treated and how your face moves.
